There have long been local venues for readings of works by Lakeside’s short story writers and poets, and their brevity readily lends itself to publication in local periodicals.
Not so for local book authors… at least until now. RiberasAuthors’ 2nd Wednesday reading event (launch on February 13, 2019) affords readers the opportunity to hear book excerpts read in the writer’s own voice, to learn about the genesis of their work, and to acquire an autographed copy.
RiberasAuthors strives to present authors who have mastered the craft of writing, and whose themes are both profound and currently relevant. Readings are staged at the Lake Chapala Society’s lakeshore campus, and listeners can enjoy live music or browse each month’s art exhibit before and after the readings. Attendees can also find refreshment at a cash bar.
Attendees are asked for a donation of 50 pesos each to help cover the cost of each event. Currently scheduled:
- Feb. 13: Sally Asante
- March 13: Judy King
- April 10: Sydney Metrick
